Completion of this unique workshop, will enable trainees to attain their certification of completion which indicates competancy to serve the role of a "preventive controls qualified individual" who must be available to perform or oversee significatant activities that impact the safety of food and food materials.  Such activities include but are not limited to ensuring effective implementation of risk based controls such as GMPs and other food safety prerequisite programs.  More specifically the preventive controls competant individual is specifically responsible as described in 21CFR 117.180 for the following activities: preparation of the food safety plan, validation of preventive controls, justification for validaion of control timeframes, review of records, several techncal requirements involved with reanalysis of the food safety plan.  Preventive controls qualified individuals also perform essential training and mentoring duties at many food plants, and this workshop ensure these individuals are qualified to conduct such training.

Progressive facilities will elect to have than just one qualified individual working within the facility.  Multiple qualified individuals are a necessary due to a) required back-up for absenses such as vacation, departure for normal job duties,  or other typical individual employee events, b) multiple shift operations where record review and verification is require, c) multiple dues also include training of other food handling employees, and d) non-employee consultants necessary to assist with updating food risk analysis details and validation of preventive controls due to the higher than ordinary risk impact or their familarity with controls due to education or experiencial reasons.

Registration fee includes all required FDA training curriculum materials for qualified individuals, 3 lunches, and certificate of attendance registered with the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance as required by the FDA.

GFSI CERTIFIED FACILITIES SHOULD TAKE NOTE: FDA PLANS REGULATORY AUDITS FOR COMPLAINCE WITH PREVENTIVE CONTROL SYSTEMS IN SEPTEMBER, 2016 AND WILL NOT ACCEPT A CURRENT GFSI CERTIFICATE AS PROOF OF REGULATORY COMPLIANCE BEGINNING IN NOVEMBER 2016.  ALSO, SQF PRACTITIONER CERTIFICATES ARE PRESENTLY NO GUARANTEE TO MEET REQUIREMENTS OF THE COMPETANT INDIVIDUAL REQUIRED IN 21CFR 117.180 !!!!
